Where are you going to put the spice rack? Today’s spice racks come in many shapes and sizes so it is important to make sure you have the room for the spice rack to fit. Many people put the spice rack on the kitchen counter below the cabinets. These are called free standing spice racks. Obviously purchasing a tall kitchen spice rack is probably not a good idea. If you don’t have any counter space, you may decide to go with a wall mountable kitchen spice rack that hangs neatly wall. There are also ones that mount underneath the kitchen cabinets to save space. If you have a pantry, try getting a door mount kitchen spice rack. These hang on the back of the pantry door to save space. These are commonly referred to as door mounted spice rack

Another question to ponder is how many spices do you need? This ultimately affects the size of the spice rack. The less number of spices you need the smaller the kitchen spice rack can be. Many spice racks come with the jars relabeled for the spices. Other racks include the spices. If you are unsure of the types of spices you will need, try getting a spice rack that just contains the jars and labeling material. This way, as you purchase spices from your local grocery store, you can add then to your kitchen spice rack and label them at that time, thus only filling the jars with spices you will actually use.

A third decision you need to make is what type of rack do you want? Kitchen spice racks come in many forms such as wood frames, steel frames, glass gars, stainless steel jars, etc. You will want to look at a few before you purchase to make sure you have one that compliments the design of your kitchen and doesn’t look out of place.
